DSA of Malyasia launches enhanced Code of Conduct!

ImageThe Direct Selling Association of Malaysia (DSAM) today launched an enhanced version of its code of conduct, a set of guidelines advocating the practice of ethical direct selling and consumer protection. DSAM president Paul Yee said the code, which was in line with the World Federation of Direct Selling Associations' code of conduct, was first launched in 1998.

These companies are: Americraft Cookware (Cookware), GreatLife International, LLC (Nutritional Supplements), Jus International (Antioxidant Drink), L'Bel USA (Skincare and Cosmetics), LikeWear, LLC (Licensed apparel and accessories), Maddy Moo Creations (Custom Purses and Fashion Accessories) and Phoenix Trading (Greeting Cards, Paper Products).

ImageLast week Herbalife Ltd. (NYSE: HLF - News), a global nutrition and direct selling company, welcomed Marco DeAngelis, M.D. of Italy and Alexey Borisov, Ph.D. of Russia to its Nutrition Advisory Board.

The nutrition advisory board is comprised of leading experts around the world in the fields of nutrition and health who educate and train Herbalife independent distributors and, in China, sales employees, on the principles of nutrition, physical activity and healthy lifestyle. The board is chaired by David Heber, M.D., Ph.D., director of the Center for Human Nutrition at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

Wellstar International celebrated its fifth year in business last weekend with over 2,000 partners from all over Europe in the exclusive surroundings of the Tempodrom in Berlin. 17 international show events and the launch of 3 new product and marketing innovations were the cause for continuous euphoria among the partners. Even before the show the participants from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, Hungary, Poland and Romania ensured a powerful atmosphere - Wellstar Top Earner Peter Kovacs, playing the role of orchestral conductor, personally fired up his organisation. Herbalife Ltd. Announces First Quarter 2009 Results!

ImageYesterday Herbalife Ltd. reported first quarter 2009 net sales of $521.7 million, a decrease of 13.7 percent compared to the same period of 2008, primarily reflecting the unfavorable impact of currency fluctuations. Excluding the impact from currency fluctuations, local currency year-over-year net sales declined 0.9 percent. For the quarter ended March 31, 2009, the company reported net income of $41.5 million, or $0.67 per diluted share, compared to $62.4 million, or $0.93 per diluted share in the first quarter of 2008, reflecting lower net sales attributable to unfavorable currency fluctuations, coupled with a higher effective tax rate reflecting country mix, partially offset by accretion from the company’s share repurchase program. Excluding the impact from adjusting items in the first quarter, adjusted net income was $41.9 million, or $0.68 in adjusted diluted earnings per share, reflecting a decrease of 32.7 percent and 26.9 percent, respectively, compared to the same period in 2008.

 
Reliv International Buys All Reliv Shares Held by The Paul and Jane Meyer Family Foundation!

ImageMonday, April 27 Chesterfield, Missouri based Reliv International, Inc. (Nasdaq:RELV), a nutritional supplement and direct-selling company, announced the purchase of 2,068,973 shares of Reliv common stock from The Paul and Jane Meyer Family Foundation. Reliv paid an average price of US-$2.95 per share, or approximately US-$6.1 million total. The purchase represents all of Reliv's shares held by the Meyer Family Foundation.

 
Amway India to expand product portfolio

ImageDirect selling company Amway, which currently sells 110 products in India, intends to increase this number by adding newer products to its product portfolio, revealed the Press Trust of India. The expansion of Amway's product portfolio is part of the company's plan of achieving a turnover of INR25 billion by 2012-13. In 2007-08, the company reported a turnover of INR11.28 billion. In addition, the company wants to increase its distributor base in the next 10 years to 900,000 personnel. For achieving this, the company will add over 50,000 distributors annually.

 
Mannatech reports positive study data on Ambrotose's effect on brain function!

ImageOn 21 April Coppell, Texas based maker of nutritional supplements, topical and skin care products and weight-management products, Mannatech Inc (NASDAQ: MTEX), reported study findings on Ambrotose's effect on brain function.

Data demonstrated that a single one-tablespoon serving of Ambrotose complex significantly improved visual discrimination and working memory.

The randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study evaluates the impact of Ambrotose complex on the brain function of 62 healthy young adults. Data was published in the journal Perceptual & Motor Skills.
